Production history of Acetate tow

   In 1664, the Englishman R. Hooke, in his book "Microcrystalline Patterns", first mentioned that humans could produce textile fibers in imitation of the spring silkworms spitting out silk.

  In 1855, Swiss Andromas used nitrocellulose solution to imitate the process of spring silkworms spitting out silk to make fiber with tensile properties and applied for a patent.

  In 1884, the French chemist Chardonnay developed a successful industrial reproduction of fibers (nitrocellulose).

  In 1865, France's HOUGIBEL invented the cellulose acetate manufacturing method .

  In 1904, the German company BAYOR invented the dry spinning acetate technology.

  In 1905, acetone was used to dissolve cellulose diacetate for the first time.

  In 1914, triacetate was spun successfully.

  In 1916, triacetate entered industrial trial production.

  Before the 1850s, diacetate was mainly used for textile production, then its market share was challenged by synthetic fibers and shrank from the 1960s onwards.

  In 1950, EASTMAN successfully used diacetate for cigarette filters, opening up a new field of acetate applications.

 
History of China domestic acetate tow production

  China began research on acetate fiber production in the late 1950s, which was abandoned halfway due to the impact of synthetic fibers.

  In the mid-1970s, the domestic demand for cigarettes with filters increased, and the Ministry of Light Industry organized research on the production of filament bundles for cigarettes.

  Domestic units that used to produce vinegar fiber tow independently mainly include: Shanghai Reagent Factory, Huian Chemical Factory, Shanghai Acetate Factory, Shanghai Cigarette Factory, Guangzhou Zhongshan Sugar Factory, etc.

  Shanghai Reagent No.1 Factory: A set of 1000 tons/year vinegar flake production line was built in the early 60s.

  Huian Chemical Factory: built a production line of vinegar flakes with an annual capacity of 40 tons in 1980; spun silk with 240-hole cap and 400 m/min spinning speed in 1984.

  Shanghai Vinegar Fiber Factory: 100 tons of vinegar flake production line was built in 1975; 600 tons of vinegar flake production line was built in 1980.

  Shanghai Cigarette Factory: 100 tons of silk bundle production line was built.

  Guangzhou Zhongshan Sugar Factory: vinegar flakes were produced from bagasse in 1981.

  Nantong Acetate Co., Ltd: established on March 24, 1987 and put into operation on May 15, 1990. Nantong is the first vinegar fiber enterprise that produced qualified cigarette tow in China.

  Xi'an Huida: Established in 1992 and put into production in September 1995.

  Kunming Acetate Co., Ltd: established in 1993 and put into production in December 1995.

  Zhuhai Acetate Fiber Co., Ltd: established in 1993, put into production in January 1996.

  Hefei Shuangwei Eastman Fiber Co., Ltd: established in 2001, put into production in June 2004.

  Sechea Industrial Ltd: Established in 2002, put into production in March 2005.
